Finding the Right Nanny in Lisbon

At Nannies of Lisbon, we help families find trusted, experienced caregivers who provide warm, respectful childcare.

Our approach is personal and thoughtful. Instead of automated matching, we take the time to understand your family’s needs and introduce you to caregivers who truly fit your lifestyle and values.

Our Nanny Selection Criteria

Every caregiver in our network is carefully screened before being introduced to families.

To join Nannies of Lisbon, nannies must:

​

• Have professional childcare experience
• Provide a detailed CV and references from previous families
• Hold an updated First Aid certification and criminal background check
• Complete a personal interview with our team
• Speak basic English (many speak additional languages)
• Share our values of respectful, child-led caregiving

​

We confirm written references with direct confirmation from previous families and ask for a minimum of one contactable verbal reference for final-stage hiring.

This process allows us to maintain a network of reliable, professional caregivers that families can trust.

How the Process Works

01 Complete the Family Form

Families begin by completing our Family Form, where you share information about your childcare needs, schedule, and family values.

This helps us understand the type of caregiver who would best support your family.

02 Welcome Email & Discovery Call

03 Service Agreement & Deposit

After reviewing your form, we will send a welcome email and invite you to schedule a short call with Mariana, founder of Nannies of Lisbon.

​

During this conversation we:

• clarify your childcare needs
• learn more about your family
• answer any questions about the process

Eco-Friendly Design

To begin the search process, families are asked to:

​

• sign a simple service agreement
• pay a 10% deposit of the placement fee

This allows us to officially begin the search and ensures transparency for both families and caregivers.

04 We Share the Position with Our Network

Your request is shared with our trusted network of professional nannies.

We carefully review interested candidates and select caregivers whose:

• experience
• availability
• childcare approach
• personality

• align with your family’s needs.

05 Candidate Introductions

Families receive nanny profiles including:

• CVs
• references
• languages spoken
• childcare experience

You can then schedule interviews with the candidates you are most interested in.

We encourage families to meet more than one nanny and, if possible, arrange trial days to ensure the best fit.

06 Trial Period & Final Match

First-Rate Materials

Once you find the nanny who feels right for your family, you may begin with a trial period before confirming the final placement.

This allows both the family and the nanny to ensure the match feels comfortable and aligned.

07 Final Placement

After confirming the nanny, the remaining placement fee is due and the placement process is completed.

Payments between families and nannies are handled directly between both parties.

    Every month

Nanny Rates

Nannies in our network charge a minimum rate of €10/hour, with rates varying depending on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities.

All salary agreements are made directly between families and nannies.
